Champaign County Felony Record Fees
Standard Illinois copy fees apply. First page: $2.00. Pages two through twenty: $0.50 each. Pages after twenty: $0.25 each. Certification is $6.00 per seal. If you do not have the case number, the clerk charges a $6.00 search fee per case.
The online search is free for basic lookups. Full document copies still need to be picked up or mailed. For mail requests, send a check or money order payable to the Champaign County Circuit Clerk. Include the case number or the full name of the defendant so staff can find the right file. A self-addressed stamped envelope speeds up the return. In-person requests are handled at the counter during business hours at 101 E. Main Street in Urbana.

Statewide Records and Champaign County
The Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification in Joliet keeps statewide criminal history records for every felony arrest in the state. That includes all Champaign County cases. Felony Case Laws for Champaign County
The Criminal Identification Act (20 ILCS 2630) requires Champaign County law enforcement to report all felony arrests to the ISP. Fingerprints and arrest data go to the Bureau of Identification in Joliet. Public name-based searches through the ISP under the Uniform Conviction Information Act cost $10 electronically and return conviction data only.
The Unified Code of Corrections (730 ILCS 5) sets sentencing for all Champaign County felony cases. Class X carries 6 to 30 years in prison. Class 1 is 4 to 15 years. Class 2 is 3 to 7 years. Class 3 is 2 to 5 years. Class 4 is 1 to 3 years. These ranges are the same across Illinois.
Some Champaign County felony records can be expunged or sealed under the Criminal Identification Act. Filing a petition is free. The ISP charges $60 to process the court order. Under the Illinois FOIA, you can request arrest reports from local police agencies. Court records follow separate rules and are not subject to FOIA.
